Architect & Planner Stephen Berry Unveils Diamond Legacy A Mixed-Use Master Plan In Youngstown, OH

A little known fact outside the area is that the business corridor of Boardman, Poland and Canfield near Youngstown, Ohio (USA) is one of the most comfortable, cost-effective locales -- any where on the globe -- for doing business and enjoying a high standard of living. Diamond Legacy, in Boardman Township, will build on that notion.

It will offer professional, retail and restaurant amenities to entrepreneurs near and far in a campus-like setting in the heart of Boardman´s new medical and wellness district. Situated midway between New York and Chicago, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, in close proximity to the interstate highway system and international airports, Diamond Legacy will attract regional, national and even international firms that know the value of a smart, enduring venue. I believe the region will realize in Diamond Legacy a working model for successful business growth in the 21st century and beyond.

I designed the Diamond Legacy complex campus-style to enhance the corporate identity of its tenants. Each building complements the whole to create a coherent, yet varied theme of sustainable wood structures clad in brick and stone veneer for lasting beauty and longevity. Diamond Legacy offers over 200,000 square feet of lease space in variations of two and three story buildings ranging in size from 12,000 to 35,000 square feet. The infrastructure for storm water control on the 22 acre site will feature water-quality measures to maintain a clean underground aquifer in the community. Extensive landscaping and land-banked paving will minimize the heat island effect of the site for a healthier work environment. Upgrades to the adjacent roadways will be a part of Diamond Legacy, improving the level of traffic service in the surrounding area in a cooperative effort with neighboring businesses and government agencies.

I have planned a number of mixed-use projects in the region with similar goals in mind. Diamond Legacy, however, is more comprehensive in a way because the client has allowed me a unique level of design control over a sizable tract of land -- from conceptual studies to the design-development phase to the initial construction phase now under way. I am looking forward to the lease-up and build-out phases of this exciting project that will keep us busy for some time to come.
